Replication Stress Is a Potent Driver of Functional Decline in Aging Hematopoietic Stem Cells
Scientists show that cycling old hematopoietic stem cells in mice have heightened levels of replication stress associated with cell cycle defects and chromosome gaps or breaks, which are due to decreased expression of mini-chromosome maintenance helicase components and altered dynamics of DNA replication forks. D-Cyclins Repress Apoptosis in Hematopoietic Cells by Controlling Death Receptor Fas and Its Ligand FasL

Downregulation of Prdm16 mRNA Expression Is a Specific Mechanism to Avoid Leukemogenesis during HOXB4-Mediated HSC Expansion In Vivo

Rictor Is Required for Early B Cell Development in Bone Marrow
Scientists demonstrate that the deletion of Rictor induced an aberrant increase in the FoxO1 and Rag-1 proteins in bone marrow (BM) B cells and that this increase was accompanied by a significant decrease in the abundance of B cells in the peripheral blood and the spleen, suggesting impaired development of early B cells in adult mouse BM. Identification of Heme Oxygenase 1 (HO-1) as a Novel Negative Regulator of Mobilization of Hematopoietic Stem/Progenitor Cells
Researchers demonstrate that HO-1 plays an important and heretofore unrecognized role in retention of hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) in bone marrow (BM) niches by modulating negatively activation of mobilization promoting complement cascade, maintaining stromal derived factor-1 (SDF-1) level in the BM microenvironment and attenuating chemotactic responsiveness of HSPCs to SDF-1 and sphingosine-1 phosphate gradients in peripheral blood. Transplantation Outcomes for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, 2000-2009
The Primary Immune Deficiency Treatment Consortium was formed to analyze the results of hematopoietic-cell transplantation in children with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) and other primary immunodeficiencies.
